Who is behind Savvy Dispatches?
Well hey there! My name is Savannah and I'm a 26 year old budget traveler who loves reading, photography, and wildlife-spotting.
I'm originally from the Southwest coast of Florida, USA - an area that's known for it's seashell-covered white sand beaches. My first international trip was to Costa Rica in May 2013, when I spent a month watching over mama and baby sea turtles. I realized during that trip that traveling internationally was something that I could do. As long as I saved up the money and made a plan, I could go. It was that easy*. Since then, my life has been a pattern of work, save for travel, GO, work, save for travel, GO... you get the picture.
*(wholly thanks to my being a white, able-bodied, Westerner).
I've been to 22 countries in the last five years and I'm not planning on stopping any time soon. You see, I've been lucky enough to have some incredible experiences while traveling.. Like heli-hiking on a glacier in New Zealand, or taking Australia's most iconic drive, or watching the glow of an active volcano in Vanuatu, or geeking out over tea plantations in Malaysia... Travel is often exhausting and (quite) unglamorous but every now and then you get to see something just so earth-shatteringly different from home that you can't believe it. After two years abroad, I'm not planning to do as many long-term trips as I used to but I'll still (hopefully) be taking many trips abroad. I'll keep going to continue to have magic moments and share them with you.
