A Few Days In Asheville, NC

Asheville is a beacon of arts and culture nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of northern North Carolina. I’ve been fortunate to visit Asheville numerous times over the past decade. Thus, I feel prepared to share my advice on how to spend a few days in Asheville.
Things to Do in Asheville
1. Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway

The Blue Ridge Parkway is a scenic American road and the longest linear park in the United States. Asheville is in close proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway, which makes for a nice afternoon spent taking in the beautiful rolling mountains visible just off the Parkway.
2. Catch Some Live Music

The Grey Eagle; Asheville, NC; June 2016
Asheville has many venues for live music. In fact, it seems that just about every large restaurant in town has a live band on the weekends. There are a few specific music venues such as The Orange Peel, The Grey Eagle, Asheville Music Hall, and Salvage Station. In 2016, Emmett and I joined some friends at The Grey Eagle to catch King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and The Murlocs. It was a fantastic show and the venue was the perfect size – it was not too big and still easy to get close to the band.

3. Go Shopping

Asheville Emporium; October 2021
Asheville is an exciting shopping destination with a little something for everybody and every budget. Some favorite shops of mine have been Asheville Emporium and Mast General Store for souvenirs, Malaprop’s Bookstore and Firestorm Co-op for all things book, and Voltage Records or Citizen Vinyl for records. There are also a plethora of vintage stores and counterculture shops selling incense, soaps, and gemstones.

4. Take a Pubcycle Tour

Our tour guide, CJ, Suzi, Liz, Allison, and me on an Amazing Pubcycle Tour; October 2021
A company called Amazing Pubcycle offers fun, cycle tours of Asheville where you can bring your own adult beverages. In 2021, for my close friend Liz’s 30th birthday, my pals and I took an Amazing Pubcycle “Mixer Pub Tour” one evening. Our charming tour guide showed us the sights of downtown Asheville and we stopped off at a pub for half an hour for additional drinks. While cycling and touring on either end of our excursion, our tour guide took requests on the sound system. We ended the night singing “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion at the top of our lungs alongside the other folks who cycled that night. It was a very fun time.
5. Visit the Biltmore Estate

The Biltmore Estate; June 2018
The Biltmore Estate is a Gilded Age mansion built in the late 19th century outside of Asheville. Buying a day pass to visit the grounds allows visitors to tour the interior of the Estate as well as the fabulous onsite gardens/greenhouse and the Biltmore Estate Winery. Fans of architecture and extravagance will enjoy a day at the Biltmore.

6. Catch a Drag Show at Scandals
Established in 1980, Scandals Nightclub is Asheville’s oldest dance club. And it’s a gay club with an established dancefloor and two nightly drag shows on the weekend. The drag performers are fantastically talented and their costumes are incredible. For a fun night out on the town, I highly recommend Scandals for dancing and drag.

Building a Personal File Kit for Your Family’s Future

Planning for the future isn’t just about smart financial choices or setting goals—it’s about easing the burden on your loved ones. A meaningful step is creating a personal file kit with an estate planning document organizer. This tool helps you securely store important information your family might need during emergencies, illness, or after your passing. By keeping personal and legal details in one place, you reduce stress and ensure your wishes are honored without delays.
What Is a Personal File Kit?
A personal file kit is a collection of essential documents your family may need during critical times. It includes legal, financial, medical, and household records, offering a clear overview of your assets and wishes. Properly assembled, it helps guide your family through tough situations in your absence. An estate planning organizer simplifies this process by helping you gather and organize records. This preparation saves time, avoids legal issues, and brings peace of mind when it matters most.
Key Documents to Include in Your File Kit
Building a strong personal file kit means gathering documents that reflect your personal, financial, and legal life. Consider including:
- Legal documents: wills, powers of attorney, trusts, marriage certificates, divorce decrees
- Identification: birth certificate, driver’s license, Social Security card, passport
- Financial records: bank account info, retirement accounts, investments, loan documents
- Insurance policies: health, life, auto, homeowners, or renters insurance
- Property records: deeds, titles, mortgage agreements, rental contracts
- Medical information: healthcare directives, living wills, prescriptions, doctor contact details
- Digital account access: usernames, passwords, and instructions for accessing email, social media, or cloud accounts
Label and group items for easy access, and include a summary page of contents and locations. Store both physical copies and digital backups securely.
Organizing and Storing Your Documents Safely
After gathering your documents, decide how to store them. Use a physical organizer like a binder or file box, or go digital with encrypted drives or secure cloud platforms. Many families choose both for added security. Clearly label everything and use tabs or color-coding to keep categories organized. For digital storage, create a similar folder structure, use clear file names, and back up regularly. Share access with a trusted person and keep a secure list of passwords. Organizing now saves your loved ones time and stress later.
Who Should Know About Your File Kit
A personal file kit is only useful if the right people know about it and how to use it. Choose a trusted family member, executor, or legal representative, and let them know where it’s located. Walk them through its contents so they understand what’s included and how to use it. This preparation reduces delays or confusion in emergencies and helps your loved ones confidently carry out your wishes. Keep communication open—share updates or let them know if you move key documents. Regular check-ins ensure everyone stays prepared.
Maintaining and Updating Your File Kit
Your file kit isn’t a one-and-done task. Life changes, so your documents should too. Set time once or twice a year to review and update your information, including:
- Replacing outdated documents
- Updating account information
- Reviewing beneficiaries and contact details
- Adding new records, such as additional property or insurance
Keeping your estate planning organizer updated ensures it stays accurate and useful. Schedule reminders or pair the task with annual check-ins like taxes or insurance reviews.
Conclusion
Creating a personal file kit might seem like a minor task, but its impact is profound. It reflects responsibility, thoughtfulness, and foresight. An estate planning document organizer streamlines the process, ensuring that no critical detail is missed. This preparation offers your family more than just instructions—it provides clarity, reassurance, and the space to focus on what truly matters during difficult times. With everything organized and accessible, your loved ones are left with fewer uncertainties and greater peace of mind.

Steam gift cards have become one of the most popular digital assets for gamers and tech enthusiasts worldwide. In Nigeria, many people receive Steam gift cards as gifts, payments for freelance work, or through online reward programs. However, not everyone uses the Steam platform for gaming or purchases. For this reason, a common question among Nigerians is: What is the value of a $100 Steam gift card to Naira today?
If you’re looking for new and helpful information about Steam card conversions, this guide will cover everything you need to know. From how rates are calculated to where you can sell your card securely, this article is designed to give you the most up-to-date knowledge.
Why Check the $100 Steam Gift Card to Naira Today?
The Naira equivalent of a Steam gift card is not fixed. It changes daily based on several market factors. This is why it’s essential to check the $100 Steam gift card to Naira today instead of relying on outdated information.
People sell their Steam gift cards in Nigeria for several reasons:
- They don’t use Steam for gaming or purchases.
- They need to convert the card to cash to cover daily expenses.

Regardless of your reason, understanding how to check and convert the value of your $100 Steam gift card to Naira today will help you get the most out of your card.
How Is the Naira Value of a Steam Gift Card Determined?
Unlike the official USD to Naira bank rate, the Steam gift card to Naira rate is determined by market demand and availability. Platforms that buy gift cards consider the following:
- Current Demand: If more people are buying Steam cards in Nigeria, rates increase.
- Supply of Steam Cards: When many sellers flood the market with cards, the rates may drop temporarily.
- Card Type: Physical Steam cards (with scratch-off panels) and digital codes may have different rates.
- Region of the Card: US-based Steam cards generally have the highest value in the Nigerian market.

Wire Mesh Fence vs. Traditional Fencing: Which One Is Better?

When it comes to securing a property—be it residential, commercial, industrial, or agricultural—selecting the right type of fencing is crucial. The debate often comes down to two popular options: the wire mesh fence and traditional fencing materials like wood, vinyl, or wrought iron. Each has its strengths, but which one is truly better for your needs?
In this article, we’ll break down the key differences, pros, and cons of both fencing types to help you make an informed decision.
What is a Wire Mesh Fence?
A wire mesh fence is made from steel wires that are woven or welded together to create a strong, durable grid. It’s often used for security, boundary marking, or keeping animals in—or out—of a specific area. Wire mesh fences come in various types, including chain-link, welded mesh, and expanded metal, making them highly versatile for different applications.
Traditional Fencing Options
Traditional fences are usually constructed from:
- Wood:Offers a classic, natural appearance and privacy.
- Vinyl (PVC):Known for low maintenance and modern aesthetics.
- Wrought Iron:Durable and decorative, commonly used for ornamental fencing.
- Concrete or Brick:Strong and highly secure, often used for boundary walls.
-
Durability and Strength
Wire Mesh Fence:
- Made from galvanized or stainless steel.
- Highly resistant to rust and corrosion.
- Can withstand extreme weather and wear.
- Long-lasting with minimal maintenance.
Traditional Fencing:
- Wood can rot, warp, or be infested by termites.
- Vinyl may crack under intense heat or pressure.
- Wrought iron is durable but may rust without proper coating.
- Brick is strong but can crack over time due to weather changes.
✅ Winner: Wire mesh fence, especially in high-exposure environments.
-
Security
Wire Mesh Fence:
- Difficult to climb or cut through.
- Provides visibility while still acting as a barrier.
- Ideal for schools, factories, farms, and even prisons.
Traditional Fencing:
- Wood and vinyl offer more privacy but are easier to breach.
- Wrought iron can provide strong protection but may lack flexibility in coverage.
- Brick/concrete walls offer maximum security and privacy but are expensive.
✅ Winner: Wire mesh fence for balance of security and visibility.
-
Installation and Maintenance
Wire Mesh Fence:
- Quick and easy to install.
- Lightweight and requires minimal manpower.
- Low maintenance—just occasional cleaning and inspections.
Traditional Fencing:
- Installation can be time-consuming and labor-intensive.
- May require frequent maintenance (painting, sealing, repairs).
- Higher cost for materials and upkeep.
✅ Winner: Wire mesh fence, especially for large-scale or urgent projects.
-
Cost-Effectiveness
Wire Mesh Fence:
- More affordable than most traditional fencing types.
- Excellent value for money given its longevity and durability.
- Ideal for covering large areas economically.
Traditional Fencing:
- Higher upfront costs.
- Long-term expenses due to maintenance and repairs.
- Better for small areas or where aesthetics are a priority.
✅ Winner: Wire mesh fence, especially for budget-conscious projects.
-
Aesthetics and Privacy
Wire Mesh Fence:
- Functional and modern but not known for privacy.
- Can be paired with hedges or privacy slats for improved appearance.
Traditional Fencing:
- Offers a wide range of designs and color options.
- Wood and vinyl provide full privacy and curb appeal.
- Wrought iron and brick enhance property value with visual impact.
✅ Winner: Traditional fencing, if privacy and design are key concerns.
Conclusion: Which One is Better?
The answer depends on your priorities. If you’re looking for strength, durability, low maintenance, and cost-effectiveness, the wire mesh fence is the smarter choice—especially for large properties, farms, commercial areas, or security purposes.
However, if privacy and aesthetics are at the top of your list, traditional fencing might better suit your needs, particularly in residential settings.
For many property owners, combining both styles can offer the best of both worlds—using wire mesh fence in the back or around the perimeter and traditional fencing at the front for curb appeal.
